With stellar shape, starfruit — or carambola — also stars in the nutritional department delivering a healthy dose of vitamin C and dietary fiber for the number of calories and carbs it has. Calorie for calorie, starfruit lives up to its name in nutrition.
But there’s more:
- Starfruit is loaded with healthy plant compounds: quercetin, gallic acid, and epicatechin. All three have antioxidant properties. These may reduce inflammation, cholesterol and the risk of fatty liver.
