Florida dragonfruit’s season
The wild tale of growing...
Dragonfruit’s season is on lunar time. Its flowers bloom just before a full moon. During the night of a full moon, it’s large white flowers burst open hoping to attract a pollinator. Bees? No, bats. So after a full moon, almost a month, we’ll have dragonfruit to harvest. In Florida, the season goes from June thru December. This fruit’s availability can be sporadic, but that’s understandable given it’s on lunar time.
