For the most exotic tropical flavor, let this beautiful fruit sit on your kitchen counter and get wrinkled, as shown here.

    2. Wrinkling means passionfruit is ripening. Adding “Wrinkled when ripe” says it all.

    4. Top ways of enjoying passionfruit

  • Passionfruit's juicy pulp is a great source of vitamins C and A. Both are valuable antioxidants, helping quell inflammation, a known trigger for many chronic health problems.

    But in addition to these well-known vitamins, flavonoids, a potent category of antioxidants, are also widely available in the form of carotene and cryptoxanthin.

    Rounding out the nutritional profile are minerals including copper, phosphorous and iron, making passionfruit a one-stop healthful choice.

    And here's another juicy tidbit: having such a high level of vitamin C enhances the absorption of the iron available from the fruit.

Season: December – February and May thru August

Colors: You’ll find shades of purple, pale-pink, and deep red.

Ripe: Wrinkles while ripening.

Open: Use a sharp knife (serrated works best) to cut fruit in half across the middle.  Scoop out the contents.

Enjoy: Fresh scooped out of its shell or strain pulp and seeds through a strainer or cheesecloth for juice
