If this avocado is hard, leave out on the counter 3 to 4 days. It should be ready for slicing.
If this avocado yields to gentle pressure, it’s ready for salads and slicing. Wait 2 to 3 days for mashing.
If it really gives, it’s ready for guacamole.
There are two exceptions to this rule

These avocados stay green as they ripen (except for Hardees). Give them a gentle squeeze. If they give a little they’re ready for your salads and snacks. If they give a lot, get the chips out. There’s a great guacamole to be had.

SlimCado, a tropical avocado, is a healthy fruit to eat.
While other fruits are heavy into carbohydrates, avocados have a lot of fat, healthy fat.
The health benefits of eating this healthy fat outweigh eating the inescapable fact that it is fat.
SlimCados, as the name more than hints, have less fat and fewer calories. It is not a super large Hass avocado. SlimCados have a light, creamy almost buttery avocado taste you can enjoy as an occasional alternative in your guac or to top your toast and as the avocado of choice for salads and more.
Avocado health benefits
A wide variety of nutrients, including 20 different vitamins and minerals. High on the list: folate, potassium and vitamins B5, B6, C, and K. Smaller amounts of magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, zinc, phosphorous and vitamins A, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin) and B3 (niacin).
It’s low-carb fruit with 9 grams of carbs that are mostly fiber. This avocado is loaded with fiber, about 7% by weight.
No cholesterol, no sodium and low in saturated fat.
For potassium, peel a banana or cut open a SlimCado. The two rival each other for delivering the most potassium.
Avocado’s monounsaturated fatty acids are considered heart-healthy. The fatty acids are mostly oleic acid which is also found in olive oil.
Helpful in absorbing nutrients, like vitamins A, D, E and K and antioxidants like carotenoids, that need to be combined with fat to be utilized.
Avocados have powerful antioxidants including carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin, both important for eye health.

What is the SlimCado? It’s a tropical avocado that naturally has up to half the fat and a third fewer calories than the hass avocado. SlimCados are a different branch on the avocado family tree. They’d have to be, they’re grown in very humid climates, not dry climates like the Hass.
NON GMO: SlimCados are NON GMO. For over 95 years, Brooks Tropicals has grown SlimCados.
Why the label? These avocados can be 3 to 4 times larger than the Hass avocado. Sometimes it’s thought to be a large Hass avocado. Since 1984 the label has helped us say: This is not a Hass avocado. It’s a lighter tasting avocado that naturally has less fat and fewer calories.
Taste: Light texture with a sweet, buttery taste. Some varieties have a nutty flavor to them.
Selection: A fruit that yields slightly to gentle pressure is ready for chopping. With more give, it may be ready for mashing, as in guacamole.
Is it ripe? This tropical avocado’s skin remains green and yields to gentle pressure when ripe. It does not turn black. There are two exceptions to this rule the Hardee and the Beneke avocados. Hardee turns red and the Beneke turns dark green.
