Brooks Tropicals in Homestead, FL, has announced a number of personnel changes.
Amanda Douglas, who has been with the company for three years, has been promoted to director of sales management. Her duties will include inventory management and providing appropriate departments with accurate information. She will also assist in specific commodity interoffice coordinations.
Gustavo Kardjian has been promoted to vice president of administration. He works primarily with the company’s Belize papaya operations. He will prepare and monitor budgets, work with government agencies in Belize, and coordinate necessary information between departments in Homestead and Belize. Mr. Kardjian will also manage the purchasing and MIS departments and will oversee future projects planned for Brooks Tropicals in its Homestead location.
Luis Laya has joined the firm as project manager. He previously worked for Del Monte Fresh Produce as general manager assigned to its Philippine division in addition to serving as vice president of administration and chief financial officer for Banacol Marketing Corp. before coming to Brooks. Mr. Laya will simplify and organize the corporate policy, review the grower contracts and work on various projects at Brooks Tropicals.
Rolando Castillo has been promoted to director of information technology. He has primarily concentrated on system operations as well as hardware and software implementation and troubleshooting. Mr. Castillo will oversee the activities of the computer technician staff, develop plans for acquisition and installation of equipment, and direct operations of computers and related equipment including data networks and telecommunications for both the Belize and Homestead locations.
