Assistant to the VP of Tropical Operations

The Assistant to the VP of Tropical Operations will be required to learn and support all facets of the VP job description.  The duties of this position will include many different areas of operations and management in the Vice President’s area of responsibilities. 
In general, all operations and operations management of Fruta Bomba and the Belize Division will be the primary focus of effort, but general knowledge of other tropical operations located in the United States and possibly elsewhere will also be necessary.  The Assistant to the VP of Tropical Operations is required to live in Belize with an occasional visit to the corporate office and other divisions located in the United States.  Knowledge of Latin American operations including Spanish speaking is necessary.

The functions of this position are varied and too numerous to mention in detail.  The following is intended to be a general outline of these responsibilities, and are as follows:

    • Develop plans and policies, manage and supervise all agronomic and cultural practices of all commercial crops grown within Fruta Bomba and Belize.
    • Manage and monitor all labor issues related to agronomic practices and management within said division including operational, management and administrative positions.
    • Coordinate corporate policies and procedures of said division to accurately reflect a consistent relationship between various divisions and corporate objectives.
    • Evaluate and monitor company financial plans and budgets in comparison with actual agriculture inputs and outputs and the performance related to them.
    • Develop or assist in developing, planning, organizing and implementation of capital and operational budgets of related division.
    • Act as a liaison to and coordinate all divisions operations and policies regarding agricultural related government agencies that have an impact on the said division.
    • Manage and coordinate Belize performance evaluations and recommend promotions or merit increases within division.
    • Act as effective liaison between division and the executive offices to accurately and realistically relay the conditions of operational issues of the Belize division and to present good accounts of all agronomic conditions that effect performance of said division.
