STEP-UPP provides an enriched learning experience for high potential retail and food service produce professionals.

On April 8, this group visited Brooks Tropicals’ facility in Homestead. After a general conclave between this group and our sales team, Bill Brindle spoke to them about the company and our goals and objectives.

The group toured the avocado and tropicals packinghouse with Mary Ostlund and Sam Skogstad.

They then went in the field to see Florida avocado groves. One hit hard by the Ambrosia beetle (not associated with Brooks) and the other a very healthy field just yards away. The healthy field is, of course, a Brooks Tropicals’ field. Travis Smith was on hand to show the group the signs of the Ambrosia beetle in one field and in the Brooks’ field, he showed the group what steps had been taken to halt the insect’s invasion.

We were back in Brooks’ offices for lunch and a discussion of our marketing efforts.
