Guava is the one fruit you fall in love with just cutting it open. Who can resist the fruit's beautiful pinkish red flesh and the fragrant aroma. In south Miami-Dade you’ll see grannies proudly selling jars of their guava jellies roadside.
Guavas are round or oval-shaped with green or yellow skin and hard seeds. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings in Cross Creek Cookery said that the seeds "lie in obtrusive layers - like rows of buckshot."
Peel, deseeded then sliced it adds a burst of flavor when added to a fruit mixture. Puree and you can think of thousands of thing to top with it.
