Care Guide

  • Brooks Availability: June to August and November to March.
  • Brooks Origin: Florida
  • Taste: Of honey, melon and strawberries.
  • Selection: Except in Florida, guavas are fairly hard to come by. Guavas should be very rich in fragrance: as they ripen, the odor changes from a rather musky, animal one to an extravagant floral bouquet. Select fruit that are yellow and tender as possible, but don’t hesitate to buy a slightly green one which has some aroma and tenderness. It will ripen at room temperature from one to five days.
